Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shaibani, held a meeting in Paris on Tuesday with an 'Israeli' delegation to discuss regional stability and the situation in southern Syria, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

According to diplomatic sources, the talks centered on efforts to reduce tensions, avoid interference in Syria’s internal affairs, and explore potential understandings to promote stability in the region. Discussions also addressed monitoring the ceasefire in Sweida Governorate and reactivating the 1974 disengagement agreement.

The meeting took place under US mediation as part of wider diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening security in Syria while preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Earlier this month, on August 12, Shaibani met in Amman with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack. That meeting centered on enhancing coordination among the three parties to bolster Syria’s stability and security. It also concluded with an agreement to form a joint Syrian-Jordanian-American working group tasked with supporting the Syrian government’s efforts to maintain the ceasefire in Sweida and pursue a comprehensive resolution to the ongoing crisis.
