Hamas has delivered its response regarding the proposed captive and truce deal to Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani during a meeting in Egypt on Monday, according to Axios reporter Barak Ravid, citing a diplomatic source.

Sources said the movement handed its reply to both Qatari and Egyptian mediators, with one informed official confirming that Hamas has agreed to the Egyptian proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange.

Axios correspondent Barak Ravid reported that Hamas delivered its formal response regarding the captive deal to Qatar’s prime minister during a meeting in Egypt on Monday evening.

- Proposal details -

According to officials, the Egyptian initiative lays out several key points:

  • A 60-day truce.
  • The release of 10 captives by Hamas.
  • Large-scale entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
  • Safe corridors for aid convoys.
  • The withdrawal of Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) from areas entered after the collapse of the previous truce on March 2.

- Next steps -

Following Hamas’ approval, the plan will be relayed to the 'Israeli' government through Washington, in a bid to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu into accepting the terms and halting a planned military offensive in Gaza City.

Mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States are expected to provide assurances to Hamas as part of the deal. The truce period would also open the door to further negotiations under American pressure, with the aim of reaching a final settlement to end the war, including arrangements for the “day after.”

- Trump weighs in -

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump issued a statement on his Truth Social platform, insisting that the release of remaining captives would only come if Hamas is decisively defeated.

“We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when Hamas is confronted and destroyed!!! The sooner this takes place, the better the chances of success will be,” Trump wrote.

Trump added, “Remember, I was the one who negotiated and got hundreds of hostages freed and released into Israel (and America!). I was the one who ended 6 wars, in just 6 months. I was the one who OBLITERATED Iran’s Nuclear facilities. Play to WIN, or don’t play at all!”

His remarks come amid heightened diplomatic efforts and international pressure to secure a ceasefire and bring an end to the war in Gaza.
