Spain has successfully evacuated 44 injured or sick children from Gaza, along with nearly 100 of their relatives, over the past several months, the socialist government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced Tuesday.

A statement from the Ministry of Migration said the Spanish government "has successfully completed four evacuations of 44 injured or sick children from Gaza, with around 100 of their relatives."

The ministry's statement noted that the "organization and implementation of these missions" were carried out "in cooperation with international organizations and allied countries to transport them from safe points outside the conflict zone."

The children and their families have been distributed across Spain to receive medical treatment and will be able to apply for asylum, the statement added.

"International solidarity and cooperation save lives," Migration Minister Elma Saiz said in the statement.

The Sánchez government has been one of the most critical European voices regarding ‘Israel's’ aggression on Gaza.

In 2023, Spain repatriated 139 of its citizens and their families who were residing in Gaza.
