Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators are working on a new truce proposal to present to Hamas, “aiming to remove Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pretext for invading Gaza City,” according to a source familiar with the matter who spoke to Sky News Arabia.

Hamas chief in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Monday evening to meet with Egyptian officials.

The source told Sky News Arabia explained that if Hamas agrees to the initiative, it would be passed to an American mediator for presentation to the ‘Israeli’ side.

Details of the Initiative

The new initiative focuses on a comprehensive deal that would include:

  • Captive exchange: The release of all living ‘Israeli’ captives and the remains of those held in exchange for a number of Palestinian detainees.
  • ‘Israeli’ Redeployment: Hamas would agree to a new deployment map for the ‘Israeli’ army under Arab and American supervision.
  • Hamas Stance: Hamas would agree to enter a transitional phase where its military wing’s activity and use of weapons would be frozen, with guarantees from the mediators and Turkey.
  • Negotiations: The plan would lead to negotiations for a permanent ceasefire agreement.
