Jordan woke up Monday to thick dust blanketing the skies, as a severe heatwave and unstable weather conditions continued to impact the country.

The heatwave, which began Friday, has driven temperatures well above seasonal averages, intensifying the combined effects of heat and airborne dust.

According to ArabiaWeather, satellite images on Sunday evening revealed large clusters of thunderclouds forming near Al-Azraq and the Badia. These systems triggered flash floods and massive dust storms, with walls of sand slashing visibility to dangerously low levels. The dust and sand were expected to reach the capital overnight into Monday morning.

The instability is forecast to persist through Tuesday, bringing thunderstorms, downdraft winds, and further dust storms, conditions that could lead to flash floods in desert regions. ArabiaWeather urged residents to take precautions, including keeping windows closed and safeguarding those with respiratory or eye conditions.

With scorching heat combining with swirling dust, health experts stress that preventive measures are crucial to minimize risks to public health.
