Jazeera condemns 'Israeli' killing of Gaza reporters Anas Sharif, Mohammed Qraiqea
Al Jazeera has issued a strong statement following the assassination of its journalists Anas Sharif and Mohammed Qraiqea by the Israeli Occupation Forces in Gaza.
The network described the killing of its reporters as a blatant and deliberate attack on press freedom. It held the 'Israeli' military and government responsible for targeting and murdering members of its journalistic team.
The 'Israeli' army explicitly acknowledged targeting the Al Jazeera press tent near the Al-Shifa Hospital complex. This attack occurred amid a horrific humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing 'Israeli' aggression, which has witnessed numerous massacres.
The network said that the "killing of Anas Al-Sharif, one of Gaza’s bravest journalists, and his colleague was a desperate attempt to silence voices ahead of a potential 'Israeli' occupation of Gaza." Al Jazeera highlighted that several 'Israeli' military officials had repeatedly incited violence and calls to target Anas Al-Sharif and his team.
Sharif and his colleagues were among the last remaining voices reporting Gaza's tragic reality to the world. Despite living under siege, facing hunger and hardship themselves, the journalists courageously provided live and shocking testimonies of the war’s atrocities throughout the aggression, Al Jazeera concluded.
