Brazil judge places ex-president Bolsonaro under house arrest: court

A Brazilian judge on Monday ordered former president Jair Bolsonaro, who is on trial for coup plotting, be placed under house arrest for breaking a ban on using social media.

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes said the judiciary would not allow Bolsonaro to "treat it like a fool," a day after close allies of the former far-right president posted images of him on social media, in defiance of a ban imposed by Moraes.
