Only $3 million reached Gaza despite Trump’s $60 million claim: Sources
The Washington Post reported that the total humanitarian aid delivered by the United States to the Gaza Strip in recent weeks amounts to just USD 3 million, far less than the USD 60 million figure repeatedly cited by President Donald Trump.
In a report published Saturday evening, the paper said US assistance to Gaza falls significantly short of what Trump claimed during several public appearances over the past week.
Citing regional sources and official statements from the US State Department, the report confirmed that only USD 3 million has been transferred so far to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), a food aid operation overseen by the US and "Israel".
Trump’s repeated assertion, “We sent USD60 million in food aid to Gaza”, is inaccurate, according to the report. The State Department has twice clarified that just USD 30 million was allocated, and only 10 percent of that amount, USD 3 million, had been disbursed as of Friday.
Throughout last week, Trump criticized the media for not acknowledging what he described as his administration’s generosity, saying, “We gave USD 60 million, and nobody thanked us.”
The foundation, backed by Washington and Tel Aviv, is facing growing international criticism amid a mounting death toll from hunger and crowding near aid distribution points. Many countries are now calling for GHF to be shut down and replaced with UN-led distribution efforts.
On Saturday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that since May 27, at least 1,422 Palestinians have been killed and more than 10,000 injured while waiting for food aid.
