Houthis claim missile strike on Lod Airport in 'Israel'

The Yemeni group Ansar Allah (commonly known as the Houthis) announced Thursday that it launched a ballistic missile of the "Zulfiqar" type targeting Lod Airport in the occupied Palestinian territories, in what it described as a response to the ongoing 'Israeli' aggression on Gaza.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the group, said in a televised statement:
"We targeted Lod Airport with a Zulfiqar ballistic missile, and we will continue expanding our operations with missile strikes and a naval blockade against the Zionist enemy."

Saree emphasized that Houthi operations will persist as long as the Israeli occupation continues its attacks on the Palestinian people, noting that the strike forms part of a broader military escalation in solidarity with the resistance in Gaza.

As of now, there has been no official comment from the Israeli side regarding the alleged attack or whether its air defense systems intercepted the missile.

Tensions in the region have continued to escalate since the beginning of the war on Gaza, with the Houthis repeatedly claiming responsibility for missile and drone attacks on Israeli military and infrastructure targets.
