What’s holding up the Gaza truce? Key dispute revealed
Hebrew Channel 12 has revealed that the final point of contention in the ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations in Doha concerns the location of “Israeli” military forces during the proposed pause in fighting.
The dispute reportedly revolves around humanitarian aid distribution points, which are expected to remain under American oversight. This would allow food and supplies to be delivered to civilians in areas from which “Israeli” forces withdraw, using mechanisms similar to those employed earlier in the aggression.
According to Hebrew media, the United States is pressuring both sides to finalize a deal by this Thursday. During his recent meeting with 'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump reaffirmed his intention to bring the Gaza war to an end.
Channel 13 quoted a senior 'Israeli' official as saying that Trump continues to apply pressure to reach a resolution, while cautious optimism surrounds the ongoing ceasefire negotiations being led by the US, Egypt, and Qatar.
Trump is expected to meet Netanyahu again at the White House to discuss the latest developments in the Doha talks, particularly regarding a potential truce and prisoner exchange. In recent remarks, Trump described the situation in Gaza as “tragic,” stressing, “We will resolve this conflict once and for all.”
Humanitarian aid mechanism remains a sticking point
"Israel’s" Kan broadcaster reported that Qatar recently presented a new compromise text aimed at resolving one of the key disputes: how humanitarian aid will be distributed in Gaza.
One proposed formula suggests that all humanitarian and food aid would be distributed exclusively through the United Nations and its agencies, without the involvement of any other parties. However, sources say this is just one of several proposals and may not necessarily be included in the final agreement.
The aid mechanism remains a central unresolved issue and continues to delay progress toward a finalized ceasefire deal.
