Jordan Air Force continues aiding Syria in firefighting efforts
Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) aircraft continued their active participation today, Tuesday, in operations to extinguish wildfires raging across several areas in Syrian territory.
Working intensively alongside Syrian civil defense teams, two Black Hawk helicopters are deployed to control the blazes threatening forests and wooded areas – a statement by the JAF said.
The RJAF's involvement is aimed at providing support and assistance to Syria, the statement added, in confronting the environmental and humanitarian disaster caused by the fires, which have been burning for approximately a week.
Firefighting operations face significant challenges due to the widespread nature of the blazes in forests and rugged terrain. Complicating efforts further are explosions from war remnants and landmines, as well as high winds.
