Iranian Foreign Minister sends letter to Saudi counterpart
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi penned a written message to his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, concerning the ongoing bilateral relations between the two regional powers.
The message, delivered by Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, to Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed bin Abdulkarim Al-Khuraiji on Tuesday, comes amidst a period of intensified efforts to de-escalate tensions after the “Israel”-Iran war.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the communication focused on strengthening and supporting relations across various fields.
Earlier this week, Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ali Reza Enayati, commended Saudi Arabia's role in easing regional tensions and facilitating the revival of talks, likening the progress to achievements that typically take years. He also highlighted strong Saudi backing during recent regional developments, including condemnations of “Israeli” strikes on Iran.
The letter's delivery also coincides with an op-ed published by Foreign Minister Araghchi in the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar, where he reportedly called for unity among Islamic countries and emphasized that Iran's recent actions open a new window for comprehensive diplomacy in the Middle East, aimed at deterring “Israel”.
