Hamas says Gaza ceasefire talks "have intensified in recent hours”

A senior Hamas official said Wednesday that negotiations aimed at reaching a ceasefire in Gaza have gained momentum in recent hours, though no fresh proposal has been formally presented to the group so far.

Taher al-Nunu, a spokesperson for Hamas, told Agence France-Presse that communication with key mediators has ramped up. “Our communications with the brother mediators in Egypt and Qatar have not stopped and have intensified in recent hours,” he said.

Despite the renewed engagement, al-Nunu noted that Hamas has “not yet received any new proposals” to end the war, which is now in its 21st month.
