Jordan’s Ministry of Education confirmed Tuesday that there will be no change to the date of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) scheduled for Thursday, June 26, despite the official public holiday for the Islamic New Year.

In a statement, the ministry said the exam will take place as planned, noting that a similar situation occurred during last summer’s session, when an exam coincided with the Hijri New Year holiday and was held as scheduled. It also pointed out that school exams have previously been held on Saturdays, which are regular days off.

The clarification comes after Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan issued an official circular declaring Thursday, June 26 — corresponding to the first of Muharram, 1447 Hijri — a public holiday. The decision covers all ministries, public institutions, state universities, municipalities, and government-owned companies.

However, the circular excludes institutions whose nature of work requires otherwise.
