Student fatally stabs teaching assistant in France
A 31-year-old teaching assistant tragically lost her life today after being attacked with a knife by a secondary school student during a routine bag search at a school in Nogent, eastern France.
The alleged attacker, identified as a 15-year-old student with no prior criminal record, was reportedly overpowered by gendarmes following the assault. Education officials confirmed the assistant sustained multiple knife wounds.
The fatal stabbing has sent shockwaves across the nation, prompting a strong response from French leadership. President Emmanuel Macron, commenting on the incident via X, expressed national grief, "While protecting our children, a teaching assistant lost her life, the victim of a senseless wave of violence." He added that "The nation is in mourning and the government is mobilised to reduce crime."
