Iraqi student takes own life in mosque

Iraqi security sources reported that a high school senior died by suicide early Saturday morning inside a mosque in the southern province of Maysan.

According to local media, the incident took place in the town of Al-Adl, where the student, enrolled in the final year of secondary school, was found hanged with a rope tied in a corner of the mosque.

Authorities have not yet determined the motive behind the incident.

Security forces have launched an investigation to uncover the full circumstances. The case comes amid growing concern over a rise in youth suicides across Iraq, often linked to academic pressure, economic hardship, and worsening mental health.
