Jordanian army shoots down two drones in failed drug smuggling attempt

The Jordanian Southern Military Zone foiled a drug smuggling attempt on its western front this Wednesday morning using two drones.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) said, “Border Guard forces in the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle narcotics using two drones that tried to cross the border.”

He explained that the rules of engagement were applied after the drones were detected and tracked, and they were dealt with and brought down inside Jordanian territory. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities.

The source affirmed that the JAF remain fully committed to utilizing all their capabilities and maintaining the highest levels of readiness and vigilance to firmly confront anyone who attempts to compromise the nation’s security or target its resources, and to prevent any drug smuggling attempts across the border in order to safeguard Jordan’s security and stability.
