“Israeli” artillery strike Syria after rocket launch triggers sirens
The “Israeli” military said two projectiles launched from Syria crossed into “Israeli” territory on Tuesday, but fell without causing damage.
"Following the sirens that sounded in Haspin and Ramat Magshimim at 21:36, two projectiles were identified crossing from Syria into Israeli territory, and fell in open areas," the military said in a statement.
Hebrew media said “Israel” is responding with artillery toward the source of rocket fire.
“Israeli” defense sources told Hebrew media the rockets were fired from beyond the Syrian territory currently occupied by “Israel” – indicating a medium-range rocket was used in the launch.
Defence Minister Israel Katz said Syria's President Ahmed al-Sharaa bears responsibility for two projectiles that the Israeli military earlier said had been fired from Syrian territory.
"We view the president of Syria as directly responsible for any threat or fire directed at the State of Israel," Katz said in a statement released by his office, adding that "a full response will follow shortly".
This marks the first rocket attack from Syrian territory on “Israel” since May 5, 2024.
