Spain cancels +$300 million arms deal with “Israeli” defense company
Spain canceled an arms deal worth USD 325 million with “Israeli” weapons firm Rafael – as Madrid increases its pressure on “Israel” over the war on Gaza – according to Spanish news outlet Ara.
The Spanish Defense Ministry finalized a deal to purchase 1,680 Spike LR2 anti-tank missiles from Rafael four days before Oct. 7, 2023. It was intended to arm the Spanish army and marine corps units.
“Israel's” aggression on the Gaza Strip has soured relations with Spain and its socialist government led by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, with its leader describing “Israel” as a “genocidal state” in a recent speech given at the parliament.
The country’s Secretary of Defense Amparo Valcarce declared that they are working on "disengagement plans” to avoid dependence on “Israel in any way”.
