Jordan Tourism Board eyes World Cup qualification to trigger major campaign
The Jordan Tourism Board said it developed a comprehensive plan that will be carried out if the national football team qualifies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The plan includes collaboration across various sectors to maximize marketing opportunities—both tourism and economic—associated with Jordan’s potential participation in the tournament, according to the board’s chief Abdulrazzaq Arabiyat.
“The momentum that would come with a World Cup appearance presents a valuable opportunity to globally promote Jordan as a unique tourist destination,” Arabiyat said, adding that the initiative would involve coordination between public and private stakeholders to enhance the country’s international image.
On boosting local tourism, Arabiyat emphasized the importance of encouraging three- and four-star hotels to invest in coastal areas. He argued that expanding accommodation options would help lower prices and make local tourism more accessible for a wider range of Jordanians.
He added that promoting domestic tourism will remain a top priority moving forward, with a focus on natural attractions and seaside destinations as part of a broader strategy to increase local spending in the tourism sector and ensure sustainable growth.
