The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and the Shin Bet intelligence agency claimed in a joint statement on Thursday evening that they had assassinated senior Al-Qassam Brigades leader Mohammad al-Sinwar, the brother of the late Hamas leader, Yahya al-Sinwar.

The statement added that the airstrike also killed Mohammad Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade, and Mahdi Kawareh, commander of the South Khan Younis Battalion—two of Hamas’ top military figures.

The IOF claimed that the military compound was located beneath a hospital and posed a threat to civilians in the area, emphasizing that the operation was carried out following extensive intelligence efforts to ensure precise targeting and minimize risks to the population.

As of the time of publication, Hamas has not released any official statement confirming or denying the death of Mohammad al-Sinwar or the other commanders named in "Israel's" statement.
