Hamas issues statement on Gaza ceasefire negotiations

Hamas said Wednesday it reached a “general framework” for the Gaza ceasefire agreement with US envoy Steve Witkoff, that aimed at securing a "permanent ceasefire.”

According to Hamas’ statement, the proposed agreement includes a full withdrawal of “Israeli” forces from Gaza, the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, and the establishment of a professional committee to manage the territory once the agreement is announced.

The framework also includes the release of ten “Israeli” captives and the handover of several bodies, in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners, under the supervision of mediators.

Hamas said it is currently awaiting a final response for the “framework”.
