Gaza journalist Hassan Abu Warda killed with family in "Israeli" airstrike

Palestinian journalist Hassan Majdi Abu Warda was killed early Sunday along with several members of his family after an Israeli Occupation airstrike targeted their home in the Jabalia area of northern Gaza, according to local reports.

The airstrike is part of "Israel’s" ongoing military campaign in Gaza, which has continued since Oct. 7, 2023.

Abu Warda’s killing brings the number of journalists who have lost their lives since the start of the war to more than 221, with hundreds more injured or detained amid intensifying risks for media workers operating in the enclave.

The broader toll of the war has reached catastrophic levels, with at least 53,901 Palestinians killed and over 122,593 injured, according to local health authorities. Many more are believed to be trapped under rubble, unreachable by emergency teams due to the ongoing airstrikes and destruction.
