VIDEO: Two killed in 'Israeli' airstrikes on south Lebanon
Two people were killed Wednesday in separate 'Israeli' drone strikes on southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
In the first strike, a drone targeted a car in the town of Ain Baal in the Tyre district, killing one person. The ministry confirmed the fatality in an official statement but did not provide further details on the identity or role of the victim.
According to Roya’s correspondent, the strike was part of ongoing 'Israeli' operations amid escalating tensions along the Lebanon-'Israel' border.
The 'Israeli' military later claimed responsibility for the Ain Baal strike, saying it had killed Hussein Nazih Barji, a senior Hezbollah figure. In a statement, it described Barji as an experienced engineer involved in weapons production under Hezbollah’s Research, Development, and Production Directorate. The military alleged he had played a key role in building infrastructure for precision-guided missile production and said the strike was aimed at undermining Hezbollah’s reconstruction efforts following Operation Northern Arrows.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that the target was operating a bulldozer to clear rubble from his home, which had been damaged in previous fighting.
A second 'Israeli' airstrike targeted the town of Yater, also in southern Lebanon, killing one person and injuring another, according to the health ministry.
The strikes come despite a ceasefire agreement previously reached between Hezbollah and 'Israel', with the situation along the border remaining highly volatile.
