VIDEO: "Gaza's suffering is utterly intolerable," says UK PM Starmer
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer delivered a strong condemnation of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza during a speech to Parliament on Tuesday, calling the suffering of Palestinian children “utterly intolerable” and warning that the international community must not allow a population to starve.
“I would like to say something about the horrific situation in Gaza, where the level of suffering innocent children being bombed again is utterly intolerable,” Starmer said during his address to the House of Commons, where he also outlined a proposed “reset deal” with the European Union.
Starmer expressed alarm over the "Israeli" government’s recent decision to permit only a minimal amount of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory. “It is totally and utterly inadequate,” he said, stressing, “We cannot allow the people of Gaza to starve.”
The Prime Minister also voiced disapproval over the Israeli Occupation's continued military escalation, stating, “We are horrified by the escalation from Israel.”
While reaffirming the UK’s opposition to settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, Starmer underscored the urgent need to increase humanitarian access to Gaza.
