19-05-2025 13:42|Russia’s Prosecutor General announced on Monday that Amnesty International has been banned in the country and designated as an “undesirable organisation.”
Founded in 1961 and based in London, Amnesty International is a global human rights organization known for advocating on behalf of prisoners of conscience and promoting human rights worldwide.
In its official statement, Russia’s Prosecutor General accused Amnesty International’s London office of serving as a “hub for the creation of global Russophobic projects.” The statement also alleged that the group supports Ukraine, which is currently engaged in conflict with Russia.
This move marks another escalation in the ongoing tensions between Russia and international human rights organizations.
