Vance, Zelensky meet in Rome
US Vice President JD Vance held a meeting on Sunday with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in Rome, their first talks since their White House clash in February, a US official said.
"Vice President Vance is now meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine," at the US ambassador's residence, a Vance spokesperson said in a statement at around 2:40 pm (12:40 GMT).
The politicians had briefly met on Sunday morning at the inauguration mass for Pope XIV, and had shaken hands.
The call discussed the upcoming phone call between Trump and Putin, in addition to "the situation on the front” and "the possibility of sanctions against Russia if there are no results,” a Ukrainian official told AFP
The official added that it went "better" than the disastrous shouting match in the White House in February.
