Man kills sister in broad daylight in Jordan Valley town, turns himself in
A man shot and killed his sister in broad daylight on Thursday morning in the town of Al-Karameh, located in Jordan’s Northern Jordan Valley, according to a security source.
The suspect used a firearm to carry out the killing, then turned himself in at the local police station along with the weapon.
Security forces have opened an investigation into the incident in preparation for legal action.
A source close to the investigation told Roya News that the victim, a woman in her twenties, was shot once in the lower head and died instantly. The shooting took place in a public street in front of bystanders.
The source added that the suspect, her younger brother, confessed to police that ongoing family disputes led him to commit the crime.
The public prosecutor has ordered the body to be transferred to the forensic center in northern Jordan for an autopsy. The suspect and case file will be referred to the Irbid public prosecutor and then to the Grand Criminal Court for further legal procedures.
An earlier police statement confirmed the incident and noted that the suspect had surrendered himself and the weapon to authorities.
