Hamas issues statement on Edan Alexander’s release, humanitarian aid
Hamas released a new statement emphasizing its efforts to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people by calling for a halt to aggression and the opening of crossings to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The movement highlighted its positive step of releasing the captive 'Israeli' soldier Edan Alexander, timed with the visit of the US president to the region.
According to Hamas, based on understandings with the American side and mediators, humanitarian aid is expected to enter Gaza immediately. The statement also calls for a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive negotiations aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.
However, Hamas warned that failure to allow humanitarian aid would negatively affect ongoing negotiations over prisoner exchanges.
