Iran issues statement on India-Pakistan ceasefire

Iran welcomed on Saturday the announcement of an immediate ceasefire between neighbouring Pakistan and India after days of deadly clashes, calling it an "opportunity" to reduce tensions further.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei called on both countries "to use this opportunity to ensure a reduction in tensions and lasting peace in the region".
