Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Saturday, a strategic move just days before US President Donald Trump’s planned tour of the Gulf region, which includes both nations.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Araghchi will begin his trip in Riyadh, engaging in high-level discussions with senior Saudi officials to brief them on ongoing US-Iran nuclear negotiations. He will then proceed to Doha to participate in the fourth session of the Arab-Iranian Dialogue Conference, aimed at fostering regional cooperation.

The visits come as Iran prepares for a fourth round of nuclear talks with the United States in Oman on Sunday, mediated by Omani officials. Araghchi’s meetings are expected to address regional concerns and mutual interests amid heightened tensions, including Iran’s condemnation of Trump’s reported plan to rename the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Gulf during his upcoming trip.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei emphasized Tehran’s commitment to consulting with regional neighbors, stating, “These visits align with Iran’s policy of continuous engagement to address shared interests and concerns.”

Trump’s tour, which also includes the United Arab Emirates, is set to focus on strengthening Gulf alliances and addressing regional security issues, potentially complicating Iran’s diplomatic efforts. Araghchi’s trip underscores Iran’s proactive approach to shaping regional dynamics ahead of these developments.
