Nine US airstrikes hit Hodeidah, Marib in Yemen, say Houthis

Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported on Saturday that US warplanes launched nine airstrikes on areas in Yemen, targeting locations in both Hodeidah and Marib provinces.

According to the report, six strikes hit the Madghal district in Marib, two targeted Kamaran Island, and one struck the Al-Salif district in Hodeidah.

The airstrikes come amid ongoing regional tensions. Since November 2023, the Houthis—who control large parts of Yemen—have launched missile and drone attacks on Israel and Red Sea shipping in support of Palestinians in Gaza. These actions have disrupted global trade and triggered U.S. military responses.

On March 15, US President Donald Trump ordered a military campaign against the Houthis, pledging to use “deadly force” and to “completely eliminate” the group’s capabilities. The operation aims to halt attacks on Red Sea navigation and deter continued strikes on 'Israel'.

The Houthis have also claimed to target U.S. aircraft carriers USS Harry Truman and USS Carl Vinson, along with their escort vessels, which they say are involved in bombing Houthi positions in Yemen.
