Multiple dead after shooting in Sweden
Several people have been killed in a shooting incident at a hair salon in central Uppsala, Sweden, according to Swedish media reports.
The incident took place near Vaksala Square, just hours before crowds were expected to gather for the city’s annual Walpurgis spring festival.
Swedish police confirmed that multiple emergency calls were received Tuesday evening from members of the public who reported hearing loud bangs resembling gunfire. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered several individuals with suspected gunshot wounds.
“A large section of the area has been sealed off and a full investigation is underway,” police stated, adding that forensic teams and detectives are currently collecting evidence.
Local broadcaster SVT reported that eyewitnesses near the scene recounted hearing multiple shots. Police spokesperson Magnus Jansson Klarin confirmed the wave of reports, stating, “We received several reports of bangs in the area.”
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been announced as of this time. Authorities are urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward.
