At least 12 people were killed and 30 others injured in US airstrikes that struck a crowded residential neighborhood in the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, early Monday, according to Houthi-affiliated media.

Footage aired by the Houthis’ al-Masirah channel showed scenes of devastation, with damaged vehicles, shattered buildings, and onlookers screaming as they carried what appeared to be a child killed in the strike. Others were shown on stretchers being rushed into hospitals.

The US military’s Central Command declined to comment on the incident or address civilian casualties, which have become a growing concern amid an intensifying American campaign against the Houthi group.

Strikes overnight also targeted several other areas in Yemen, including the provinces of Amran, Hodeida, Marib, and Saada.

In Saada, a Houthi stronghold in northern Yemen, similar airstrikes were reported. Houthi media claimed that four US strikes hit the Sirwah district in Marib, followed by two additional strikes on the neighboring district of Al-Jubah.

The latest attacks come just days after US forces struck the Ras Isa fuel port, reportedly killing at least 74 people and injuring 171.

According to a review by the Associated Press, the current US military operation under President Donald Trump appears to be broader in scope than previous actions taken under President Joe Biden. The escalation followed Houthi threats to resume attacks on 'Israeli' ships in response to 'Israel’s' continued blockade of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The renewed violence also coincides with a fresh round of negotiations in Rome between the U.S. and Iran over Tehran’s advancing nuclear program—a development Washington has linked to its military actions in Yemen.
