Private sector workers to also enjoy day off on May 1, 2025
The Ministry of Labour confirmed that all official holiday announcements, including public and religious holidays, apply to private sector institutions as well.
This clarification comes based on rulings by the Special Bureau for Law Interpretation, which state that any official announcement regarding holidays is binding for both public and private sectors.

The ministry highlighted Article 59 of the Labour Law, which outlines the conditions for employees working on weekly rest days or official holidays. According to the law, if an employee works on such days, they are entitled to additional pay of no less than 150% of their regular wage.
The ministry added that it has formally notified all relevant institutions, including the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, the Ministry of Investment, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, and the General Union of Jordanian Farmers.
