Gaza death toll reaches 51,000 amid stalled ceasefire efforts

At least 17 Palestinians have been killed by 'Israeli' airstrikes over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Gaza to 51,000 since the start of 'Israel’s' aggression on Gaza in October 2023, the Gaza Health Ministry reported Tuesday.

Another 69 people were wounded, raising the number of injuries to 116,343. The ministry warned the real toll could be higher, as “many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads,” with rescue operations severely hampered by ongoing bombardment.

Despite international calls for de-escalation, 'Israel' resumed its military offensive on March 18. Since then, 1,630 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,300 injured. There has been no resolution or public disclosure of progress regarding a ceasefire or prisoner exchange deal.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

'Israel' also remains on trial at the International Court of Justice, facing accusations of genocide over its ongoing campaign in the territory.
