Jordan customs thwarts attempt to smuggle hashish through King Hussein Bridge
Authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 650kg of hashish into Jordan, the Customs Department announced on Monday.
According to an official statement, the narcotics were discovered at the King Hussein Bridge Customs Center during a joint operation involving customs officers, the Anti-Narcotics Department, and other security agencies stationed at the border crossing.
The hashish was concealed inside building stone material in the form of compressed blocks. After customs officials became suspicious of the shipment, a detailed inspection revealed the drugs hidden within the stones. A formal seizure report has been filed, and the case has been referred to the Anti-Narcotics Department for legal action.
The Jordan Customs Department emphasized that its personnel continue to work in close coordination with security and oversight bodies across all border points, maintaining a constant effort to combat smuggling in all its forms—especially narcotics, which pose a direct threat to the country’s social and economic stability.
