'Israel' kills 20 Palestinians, including 10 children, on first day of Eid in Gaza
On the first day of Eid al-Fitr, the death toll in Gaza rose from 9 to 20 Palestinians, including 10 children, as a result of 'Israeli' airstrikes in both northern and southern Gaza.
A medical source, cited by news outlets, confirmed that 20 Palestinians, mostly women and children, were killed in 'Israeli' airstrikes targeting various sites across Gaza since the early hours of dawn.
The same source reported that 17 Palestinians were killed in Khan Younis alone, including 8 children, most of whom were wearing Eid clothes, while 3 others were killed in Gaza and the northern areas, including two young girls.
According to eyewitnesses, 'Israeli' airstrikes focused heavily on Khan Younis in the southern part of Gaza, targeting homes and tents sheltering displaced families in the eastern, central, and western parts of the city.
In addition, 'Israeli' artillery and military vehicles stationed on the eastern border of Gaza have intensified shelling and gunfire since dawn.
This bombardment coincided with the sounds of Eid takbeers from mosques and shelters as Palestinians continued to observe the traditional Eid al-Fitr rituals.
Since 'Israel' resumed its bombardment of Gaza on March 18, 2025, a total of 921 Palestinians have been killed, with 2,054 others injured, the majority being children and women, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
The United Nations reported that nearly 124,000 Palestinians have been displaced once again following Israel’s renewed attacks and evacuation orders.
On Sunday, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza performed Eid prayers on the rubble of destroyed mosques, in shelters, and near their ruined homes. The usual joy and celebrations were absent, overshadowed by the ongoing Israeli genocide that has persisted since October 7, 2023.
With unwavering U.S. support, Israel continues its genocidal campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in over 164,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly women and children, and more than 14,000 missing persons.
