Gal Gadot’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star sparks outrage
"Israeli" actress Gal Gadot received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Tuesday, an honor that has sparked significant backlash due to her outspoken support for the Israeli Occupation's military operations in Gaza.
Critics argue that honoring Gadot during a time of heightened violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza is insensitive. Many social media users expressed their outrage, calling for a boycott of her films, specifically the recently released Snow White movie, and questioning the decision to celebrate her while civilian casualties continue to rise in the region.
Gadot, who served in the Israel Occupation Forces (IOF), has previously posted on social media in support of the IOF's actions, referring to the situation as a “war” and expressing solidarity with IOF soldiers.
Critics also accuse Gadot of hypocrisy and preaching double-standards, pointing out that while she speaks out about "Israeli" captives held in Gaza and the plight of "Israeli" children and women, she neglects the suffering of Palestinian women and children affected by the actions of the IOF.
Pro-Palestine activists gathered outside the Walk of Fame ceremony, holding signs that read, “Heroes Fight Like Palestinians”, “Viva Viva Palestina” and “No Other Land Won Oscar” as they voiced their disapproval of the recognition being bestowed upon the actress. The crowd also chanted: “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation” and “not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime”.
