In the early hours of Wednesday, a military spokesman for Yemen's Houthi group announced they had attacked the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and several other warships in the Red Sea.

The attack, which involved multiple cruise missiles and drones, marks the fourth such strike in 72 hours.

The Houthi statement claimed the attack was in response to detecting "hostile military movements" in the Red Sea, allegedly preparing for a large-scale airstrike.

The US began retaliatory airstrikes against Houthi targets on Saturday after the group announced it would target 'Israeli' ships in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea.

US officials confirmed that airstrikes will continue for several days, possibly weeks unless Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea cease.

The Houthi spokesperson also warned of escalating military operations against 'Israel' unless attacks on Gaza stop and the siege is lifted.

Meanwhile, Houthi-controlled Al-Masirah TV reported US airstrikes targeted several regions in Yemen, including Saada and Hajja in the north, and Al Hudaydah in the west.
