"No one is expelling anyone from Gaza," Trump says
US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that “no one is expelling anyone from Gaza,” in his latest remarks regarding his previous proposal to relocate approximately two million Palestinians from the devastated enclave.
This plan was part of his vision to rebuild and establish what he called the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
During a joint press conference with Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin, Trump emphasized, “No one will be expelled from Gaza,” signaling a clear retreat from his earlier proposal, which had faced widespread Arab and global condemnation but was welcomed by "Israeli" officials.
Following the meeting at the White House, Martin expressed a desire for the release of the "Israeli" captives and the establishment of peace in Gaza. He also stressed the importance of a ceasefire amidst ongoing international mediation efforts for the next phase of the Gaza agreement.
Despite Trump’s recent softening of his stance on the relocation of Gaza’s population to neighboring countries, it seems "Israel" is still pursuing elements of the plan. "Israeli" Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a right-wing figure, disclosed on Sunday in the Knesset the creation of lobbying groups in both "Israel" and the US aimed at advancing Trump's initiative to seize Gaza and displace its residents, alongside a significant expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
In response to the ongoing crisis, an alternative plan was proposed during the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo last week, advocating for the reconstruction of Gaza while allowing its residents to remain in place.
Egypt introduced a comprehensive plan estimated to cost USD 53 billion focusing on emergency relief, rebuilding efforts, and long-term economic development over the next five years.
