One dead after building collapse in Irbid

A person has died after a building collapsed in Huwwarah village, Irbid Governorate.

The building was undergoing demolition when the incident occurred this afternoon. Part of the structure fell onto one of the machines.

Civil defense teams managed to rescue the driver, who was in critical condition, and he was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

In a statement, Irbid Governor Radwan Atoom clarified that the deceased was of Syrian nationality. He also mentioned that the area would be closed until the investigation is complete.

Atoom added that the remaining part of the building would be demolished under engineering supervision due to its risk to public safety.
