Pro-Palestinian protests at Barnard College on Feb. 27, 2025
Third student expelled from Barnard for pro-Palestinian activism
Barnard College has expelled a third student over pro-Palestinian activism, marking the latest disciplinary action against students involved in campus protests.
The student was reportedly dismissed for protesting the university’s investments last year, during which she and other students participated in the storming of Hind’s Hall.
This expulsion is the third in just under two months, on Feb. 27, 2025, dozens of pro-Palestinian student protesters gathered outside Columbia University and Barnard College to oppose the expulsions of two students who disrupted a class on the history of "Israel" in January.
The demonstrations highlight the growing tensions over Gaza and the university’s response to campus activism.
Barnard College addressed the expulsions in an official statement. “Expulsion is always an extraordinary measure, but so too is our commitment to respect, inclusion, and the integrity of the academic experience,” Barnard President Laura Rosenbury wrote to Spectator.
