The Jordanian Ministry of Labor announced that 368 wage-related disputes were filed in 2024, with 354 cases resolved and 14 still under review, according to ministry spokesperson Mohammad Al-Zyoud.

Of these cases, the Wage Authority Unit resolved 354, while 14 remain under review as of early 2025. The unit also handled 794 labor complaints last year, providing workers with legal guidance on filing claims or seeking recourse through the relevant courts.

Established under Article 54 of Labor Law No. 8 of 1996, the Wage Authority Unit oversees wage disputes where workers can file claims during employment or within six months after leaving, provided they initiated the termination.

The unit also offers mediation services at the worker’s request, provided the request is made within six months of employment termination. Disputes are reviewed with both parties present, though cases may be decided in absentia if the employer fails to attend.

Al-Zyoud emphasized that the unit’s rulings are enforced like court decisions by the relevant authorities, with no option for installment payments. Workers are also exempt from stamp fees on claims and rulings issued by the unit.
