Envoys from Tel Aviv, Doha, and Washington began intensive talks in Cairo on Thursday to discuss the next steps in the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to the Egypt State Information Service.

The statement from the service confirmed that delegations from "Israel" and Qatar arrived in Cairo to continue negotiations related to the ceasefire in Gaza, with US representatives also taking part in the discussions.

The parties involved have initiated intensive talks to review the next stages of the deal, with ongoing efforts to ensure the implementation of the agreed-upon terms, as reported by AFP.

"Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent negotiators to Cairo after Hamas handed over the bodies of four captives on Wednesday night in exchange for the release of over 800 Palestinian detainees.

This exchange marked the latest step in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, which is set to end on Saturday. There are still 58 captives remaining in Gaza, including 34 whom the "Israeli" military claims have been confirmed dead.

The first phase of the ceasefire, which began on Jan. 19, was supposed to include negotiations on the second phase, aimed at securing a permanent end to the conflict and completing the release of the captives, during the six-week duration of phase one. However, these talks have yet to take place.

Hamas has announced its willingness to release all captives "in one batch" during the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
