King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s reconstruction during his meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa in Amman on Wednesday.

He emphasized the importance of an inclusive process that engages all segments of Syrian society to ensure the country’s unity, security, and stability.

The meeting, held at Basman Palace in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, focused on enhancing cooperation and strengthening coordination on multiple levels to serve mutual interests and promote Arab unity.

Both leaders underscored the deep brotherly ties between Jordan and Syria and expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, energy, and water.

King Abdullah commended the outcomes of the Syrian National Dialogue Conference, describing it as a significant step toward rebuilding Syria in line with the aspirations of the Syrian people.

He also stressed the need for close coordination between Jordan and Syria to address security challenges, particularly border security and efforts to curb arms and drug smuggling. The King reaffirmed the importance of Syria’s return to an active role in the Arab region.

Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of creating suitable conditions for the voluntary and safe return of Syrian refugees.

Condemning the Israeli Occupation's attacks on Syrian territory, King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

For his part, Sharaa expressed appreciation for Jordan’s stance, under King Abdullah’s leadership, in supporting Syria’s reconstruction and stability.

Present at the reception were HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to His Majesty for Religious and Cultural Affairs and Personal Envoy; Prime Minister Jafar Hassan; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi; and Director of His Majesty's Office, Alaa Batayneh.
