Hamas comments on Bibas family’s killing

Hamas accused “Israel” on Saturday of disseminating "baseless lies" regarding a mother and her two children who had died in Gaza captivity, after “Israel” claimed the Bibas family were brutally killed by Hamas fighters but without providing proof.

"The false allegations that the criminal (Israeli) occupation is disseminating about the death of the Bibas children at the hands of their captors are merely baseless lies and fabrications," Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement.

Hamas long said an “Israeli” air strike killed Shiri Bibas and her infant sons, Kfir and Ariel, early in the war – believed to be in November, 2023.

Earlier today, the Bibas family said in a statement that “Israeli” authorities have not provided any details regarding the killing of three Bibas family captives.

"Any publication of details (including references to the treatment of the bodies) is against the family's wishes, and we ask that this be avoided," the statement said.

"The family has not received any such details from official sources," it said, following an “Israeli” military announcement claiming that the two young sons of captives Shiri Bibas were killed by "terrorists with their bare hands".
