Trump slams Zelenskyy as 'comedian', 'dictator'
In a post on Truth Social, United States President Donald Trump sharply criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, accusing him of manipulating the United States into spending excessive amounts of money on a war he claimed could never be won.
Trump went on to criticize Zelenskyy, referring to him as a "modestly successful comedian" who “talked the United States of America into spending $350 billion dollars, to go into a war that couldn’t be won, that never had to start."
He also claimed that without the US and Trump’s involvement, Zelenskyy “will never be able to settle” the war.
Trump emphasized that the US has spent USD 200 billion more than Europe, without receiving any financial compensation, describing the situation as unfair. He also questioned why President Joe Biden didn’t demand “equalization” of the financial contributions. Trump suggested that Europe should bear more of the cost, given that the war is far more significant to them than it is to the US.
The former president also referenced statements by Zelenskyy, who allegedly admitted that half of the money sent by the US was “MISSING.” Trump accused Zelenskyy of refusing to hold elections, stating that his popularity in Ukraine had plummeted. Describing him as a "dictator without elections," Trump warned that Zelenskyy needed to act quickly to avoid losing his country.
Trump then suggested that his administration, not Biden’s, would have successfully negotiated an end to the war with Russia, asserting that Europe’s peace efforts had failed.
He repeated that Zelenskyy likely wanted to keep the “gravy train going,” but added, “I love Ukraine,” while also criticizing Zelenskyy’s leadership, claiming that millions of unnecessary deaths and a shattered country were the result of his actions.
