19-02-2025 15:40|Flights between Baghdad and Beirut are nearly fully booked this week, according to Iraqi transport sources, as Lebanon prepares for the funeral of former Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah on Feb. 23, 2025.
In response to increased demand, the number of daily flights to Beirut has been expanded.
Funeral Details & Leadership Transition
- Hassan Nasrallah, assassinated in an 'Israeli' strike on Sep. 27, will be buried between Beirut’s old and new airport roads.
- Hashem Safi al-Din, who was elected as Nasrallah’s successor, was also killed in an airstrike in October. His funeral will take place on the same day, with burial in his hometown.
Hezbollah's Stance
Hezbollah's current leader, Naim Qassem, reaffirmed the group's commitment to resistance and said that southern Lebanon remains steadfast in the face of 'Israeli' aggression.
This marks a critical moment for Hezbollah and Lebanon, as tensions with 'Israel' continue to escalate.
