VIDEO - Syria’s Ahmed al-Sharaa visits Latakia

Syria’s interim president, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, visited the northwestern city of Latakia on Sunday, marking his first visit to the city since assuming office.

According to Syrian media, Al-Sharaa’s motorcade reached Sheikh Dahir Square in the city center, where crowds gathered to welcome him.

The visit was accompanied by heightened security measures, with roads leading to the square temporarily closed.

Al-Sharaa began his tour of northern Syria on Saturday with a visit to Idlib, where he walked through the city’s streets and visited displacement camps.

Later that day, he traveled to Aleppo, where he held an open discussion with local dignitaries and community leaders.

The meeting, attended by Aleppo Governor Azzam Al-Ghareeb and other officials, focused on the current situation and strategies for rebuilding Syria and Aleppo across various sectors.
